$#!@Y CAFE. Not clean enough to instill the confidence needed to eat without a back thought of (I wonder if the kitchen is at the same level as the restrooms and dining area?). The waitstaff was kind and attentive, but beyond that... The food was maybe a 5 out of 10. 1/2 lb. burger was more like 1/4 lb. at best, deceptively "homemade" mashed potatoes (instant w/ a few real ones mixed in, skin on; tricky). I don't know how this place survives, oh yeah, people with bad taste, or like us, just desperate for an option other than fast food.

awesome chicken fried steak and mozz sticks. This place was great. Had the Chicken Fried Steak (best around) with corn casserole and mashed potatoes. Couldn't finish it (mainly because we had mozzarella sticks as an appetizer... never seen any like it. They were incredible, and Huge. Square-shaped too.. def not of "frozen variety"). Plus we wanted to save room for a scoop of Blue Bell ice cream afterwards. Made room somehow. Will definitely be returning.

Yummy home cooked meals!. The City Cafe is an excellent spot in Texas City for some good home cooked food. The service is friendly and the food tastes like it came right out of Mom's kitchen. So good!

The Chicken Fried Steak is by far the best as well as the roast beef.

After a hearty meal you can enjoy some tasty Blue Bell ice cream from the ice cream bar. If you're in Texas City you have to stop at the City Cafe, it will take care of that craving you've been having for a hot home cooked meal.

June 2008-Great Place 24 hours !. The only review here was 2 yrs old , so we decided to try it when in TC recently. It was great ! Lots of vegetables & everything hand-breaded & fresh. We were surprised to find a BLUE BELL ice cream counter in there w/malts & sundays etc. !!We really liked it & the service was great. Clean, nice decorations..we'll go back agin soon. LOTS of food on the plate.

Service...anybody???. We waited over forty minutes after ordering and walked out after two other tables were served before us. Friends have said they simply don't go to this place because the food/service is horrible. I know there was an ad for help for management and servers recently but pass on this one...nothing has changed. It's a shame the food was pretty good before...but it has to actually reach your table to try it!
