In Short
The Italian fare at this old house on the banks of Clear Lake comes from the same family that runs nearby Frenchie's. Ravioli in crabmeat sauce, bouillabaisse, scampi piccata and snapper Pontchartrain are reliable choices here. During the winter there's live music in the dining room, and on the patio during the summer. Many wedding receptions are held here--sometimes the new couple leaves by boat.

this is my favorite restaurant. is good for many reasons. let me start with the food. we have been coming here for the past seven years and have never been dissapointed is a nice menu just a little bit of everything from small to large dishes and the flavor is always perfect sure you will have different opinions like my husband who likes frenchies better but over all i always comeback here, the other important thing is that is so romantic becuase is on the water and if you come by boat you are always welcome aslong as you are dress casual not bathing suit at least i don't think, i also enjoy the dessert and the fact that we can seat outside you can't do that in many places. over all i love villa.

I had been looking forward to trying Villa Capri, after hearing good things about it, but unfortunately I think my information was outdated. The greeters (I'm assuming they were the owners) were fantastic. Italian and very hospitable. We sat down to our table with our menus (which were very dirty), and I agree with a previous post that the wine list is very disappointing. Its very vague. Ex. "Barolo, Italy. Ask for price." I ordered what I thought was a prosecco, but wound up with a sparkling red table wine. I'll take the blame for that one I suppose. It was pretty obvious from the get-go that our waiter was simply not into serving us. He couldn't remember all of the specials, or what came with them. When I asked to substitute angel hair pasta in my pasta primevera the waiter replied "Are you sure?" Me: "yes". Him: "Well it usually comes with wide noodles." Um yes, that's why I asked for angel hair. When the food arrived, it was completely UNDERWHELMING. Nothing about the dishes was special. Mine was drenched in a creamy marinara sauce, which was surprising for pasta primevara... not all around bad, but just boring. It was very obvious that the exact same sauce was on all of our dishes. On to dessert. After hastily going over the desserts, I ordered Italian cream cake, after which the waiter ran off so fast we couldn't finish our order. I had to find him myself to finish our order. When the desserts came, underwhelmed doesn't even cover it. These are literally the cakes you buy at the grocery store. My dad had asked for plain cheesecake, but was served cheesecake covered in canned blueberry pie filling. There was nothing "truffle" about their truffle cake. It is chocolate mousse cake from Randall's, with too much whipped cream. My Italian cream cake was fine, I guess. But again, RANDALL'S. Overall, I'm very surprised at the experience. Maybe we just went on a night when no one cared about service or food, but either way, I wll NOT be going back.
