“They are quick with the chips and salsa, along with iced tea, big glasses of water and coooold Coronas.”
“The taco beef has a good flavor.”
“tried to get a regular Mexican dinner and all you can order is one of their entree's with only a minimal amount of food then you have to order everything else from an expensive ala-carte menu including enchilada at $2.50 each, not $2.50 and order, EACH.”
“Mely's Mexican Cuisine is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Clear Lake area.”
“Food is good, but I won't go back.”
“Pathetic rude service.”
“Great food and reasonable prices!”
“She came over after a minute and immediately had a bad attitude.”
good food and service. My husband and I went to Mely's after he had tried it with some guys he played golf with. We had the same waiter, Andres that had waited on them a few days before. He gave us exceptional service but not over bearing like some can get. My husband had the fish dish and he said it was excellent. I had taco al carbon and the fajita meat was very tasty and tender. I would recommend this restaurant - oh and the MARGARITAS are EXCELLENT!!!! In fact we are going back for dinner tonight.
Great food. I have been eating at melys for 8 years everyone is very friendly , great service good food and awesome margaritas !!!
Beware!. My wife and I went to Mellys with my sister in-law and her boyfriend about a week ago. When the bill came out we asked the waiter to split it up so my wife and I were on one. After a long stare he told us that he could not do it (they do it all the time). My sister in law gave my wife $25 for their meals and my wife handed it to the waiter and said to put the rest on my card, which was about $35. He came back and gave my wife the card and she wrote "$0.00" in the tip line and left him a $20 bill for the tip. i checked my bank account yesterday and there was a cleared transaction for the $35.00 from a few days ago. Today a new transaction showed up for about $80!!!! WTF? It is hard enough trying to speak to these non-english speaking retards and now I have to wait 2 weeks for my bank to finish the dispute till I get my money back. There is one waiter there that is great, the other ones are just lazy and ignorant.
Do not eat here.. Cevich is tomato paste -worth nothing at a cost of only $9.50. Manager will not deal with complaints. Avoid at all cost.i
Roaches!!!!!! Beware!!!!!!!. Mely's was a favorite of mine for several years... I hope the health dept. inspects soon, there are roaches everywhere..... very disappointed since it was a favorite for me. Infested!!!!!!! From the walls... to the empty to go box. :-(
Former fave.
My coworkers and I would go to Mely's 3-4x a week, but I will no longer go back! They give you an abundance of food, so we often split meals between 2 people.
Last week as I finished my food, a roach crawled out from under the garnish on my plate onto the table! When we told the bus boy, he simply smashed the roach and continued like nothing had happened. The manager did not care that we were upset, she simply told us they had exterminated the day before and the roaches were coming out of hiding. Initially, she didn't want to come over and apologize, but suggested the waitress give us a free dessert! Why would I want something else from their kitchen?
I am not the first person to have had a bad experience with roaches. Several other coworkers once complained about a roach crawling across the table and the waitor smashed it with a menu, then gave the menu to one of my coworkers!
The smell has been getting worse when you enter the restaurant and we often complain about stomach pain. This past weekend I was very ill and I do believe it has to do with contaminated food from Mely's.
Good food, bad reaction. Have eaten there 4 times, got sick each time. I keep track of restaurants reading the Galveston Daily News health inspection reports every Wednesday, and Mely's consistently doesn't fare very well. Not worth the results for me to go back.
Great Food!. I don't know where the bad reviewers ate, I have been going to Mely's for years and never had bad service. The food is always fresh and good. I have been at different times of the day and the service has always been gracious and attentive. I have several friends that love their black bean enchiladas. Their queso with their fresh pico de gallo can't be beat. I had a pork dish the last time I was there, I think it was pork fajitas/al carbon with grilled pineapple and it was fabulous. Also, they serve all their plates very colorfully.
Muy Delicioso.
I like Mely's........a LOT. The food is plentiful, the service is always attentive, the hot sauce and chips are always fresh, and each dish is served loaded with fresh cheese and refried beans.
I'm not sure where some of these negative comments came from regarding the margaritas. Huhm, I always like my margaritas STRONG, and Mely's has always delivered. In fact, they serve some of the best margaritas I have ever tasted. Plus the location is convenient for League City residents; right across the street from the South Shore Harbour Marina.
We can't seem to go 1 week without!. We have a very hard time going more than one week without a trip to Mely's! Even our son (who certainly is not drawn by the yummy frozen margaritas) craves Mely's after just 7 days. Service has always been excellent. Andres was the first to remember our order, so we usually ask for him, but Edgar and Priscilla and Renee (and I'm sure the others) are all great. To newcomers: too bad you won't get to see some of the creative transformation - the intricate tropical mural on the wall in the bar is now a more neutral gold paint. The faux bricks and stones on the wall in the center dining room are now gone, but the room is gaining a new look. The creativity abounds and the transformations are fun to watch from week to week. Some friends were visiting in Spring from Central America and enjoyed the atmosphere. A 6-week old niece visting remained captivated by the artwork above her on the ceiling. My in-laws cannot stand a visit without a trip - and Andres miraculously remembered my father-in-law's drink order from his visit 6 months prior!!! When we first arrived in League City, we felt too much of the menu was covered in heavy cheese sauce or gravy, but the menu has continued to grow and we manage to have a variety of favorites: carne asada, tacos al carbon, enchiladas verdes, pollo loco, fajita nachos, chicken tortilla soup, . . . Add Mely's as your regular weekly dinner spot! - Oh - and the margaritas are potent - perhaps best to follow up the first with a Landshark or something more tame!
