Great for a Group. I came here with a group last week and the service could not have been better!

There were 12-14 of us and they were very helpful, the food was fantastic (loved their seafood bisque), and even though we had a baby with us, they amde sure everything was just right and were so patient.

Delightful experience!. My family decided to go to the monument inn for my sisters birthday. There was about 15 of us dining upstairs. We had a reservation, so we sat right away. Our server (leslie) was amazing. I was worried my sister would give her a run for her money, but she was ready. Everything came out in an orderly manner. I was greatful everything went as well as it did. Its not easy getting everyone together. I look forward to going back.

BEST SEAFOOD!!. This place is a hidden gem. Every visit I order something different and I haven't been let down once. Everything is always fresh, hot, and the view is amazing.

Love Their Food!!. I've been coming to Monument Inn for ages, during Lent I come here nearly every week and the food is always amazing.

Finding a place with fresh seafood and great service shouldn't be that hard to do, but no place in Houston comes anywhere close to how good the food and service are at this joint.

I love their tilapia and my husband cannot get enough of their fisherman's platter. Lots of good choices on the menu - never had a meal here that I didn't like.

Seafood. Was just in with a party of 34 people. The food was as always the best and the service was awsome.

I called a few days ahead of time and made reservations and everything was ready when we got there. I will certainly be back..

Best Seafood around. This place has the best seafood anywhere even remotely close to Houston! I usually get the Tilapia and it is always very tasty! My gf usually gets some sort of fried seafood sampler and she never has any complaints. It is kind of a drive for most people but it is well worth it. I also enjoy the view with all different types of boats passing by, definitely a unique experience! I would recommend this place to anyone!

Unusual, Friendly, But Bland. The Monument Inn is located at the end of Independence Rd., in Pasadena down by the ship channel. (Battleground Rd. has been renamed Independence Rd.) If you don't live in the area, you will definitely need to search for it on Mapquest before attemtping to find it on your own. The restaurant is famous for it's "all-you-can eat" platter, for just under $30. (I believe it was $27.95 pp). But the dinner is initiated by requiring you to start with the boiled shrimp and raw oysters plate. I love boiled shrimp, but raw oysters are not my thing. I did try the raw oysters, but they were totally devoid of any ocean flavor, having apparently been washed to the point of extinction. The next course allows you to "freelance" your plate and order fried catfish, fried shrimp, fried oysters and stuffed crab. I tried everything except the fried catfish; again, catfish is not high on my list of seafood favorites. While the quantity of seafood for the price is formidable, the overall taste of each seafood sample was quite bland. The fried oysters tasted as though the ocean flavor had been totally washed out of them before frying them. The stuffed crab contained heavy breading with no discernable crab meat in it. The fried shrimp were actually okay, but I have still had better elsewhere. If you are looking for quantity, this is the place. If you are looking for quality, I would suggest looking elsewhere. On the upside, the waitstaff were very friendly and courteous.

Good food!. We drive from 45-south so it's about a 20 minute drive for us. When you first pull up it smells like fish, but guess why? Because it's by the water! I'm willing to put that aside because I'll be eating inside anyway. We usually go on a Saturday so there is a wait. They give you this really really good bread once your at your table. The stuffed jalapenos are really good. The caesar salad is good. I get the Shrimp Jamboree which has shrimp cooked in 5 different ways. I'm not one for stuffed shrimp, but theirs are pretty good. It is kind of pricey so we don't go very often. All in all, the drive, the smell, and the wait are well worth it.

fantastic. I've been to the Monument Inn a few times. Every time I wonder why why it took me so long to go back! The 20 minute drive is offset by the wonderful seafood, service and the VIEW..oh and the cinnamon rolls. They have done a big remodel since my last visit and the place looks great but the tables may be too close together..try the alligator as an appetizer and my favorite entree is the blackend redfish with pontchartrain sauce..you should check this hidden gem out people!

Not what I expected.. I visited Monument Inn a few months ago after staying away for over 20 years.  This restaurant, in times past, was a meeting place for family and friends. I was very supprised at the over-priced menu,  since we could not eat the food.  The fried oysters and shrimp could not be consumed my me or my guest.  I was embarrised and felt robbed by the check.
