Southern cooking, at an okay price..
I've lived in the area all my life, and I used to go at least once a month. The portions are huge, which makes up for the price. The po boys, gumbo (despite other claims) and chicken are amazing. I think it's the best gumbo I have had outside of New Orleans. The food is always cooked well, but, during the week it is really crowded, and service can be a bit slow, but, it's definitely worth the wait. The resturaunt is extremely casual, it's a very down home place. The only complaint I have, is the parking lot is a bit small, and hard to get in and out of, most don't know about the parking lot in the back, which makes things a lot easier!

Big disappointment..
I could've eaten the gumbo with a fork it was so thick. Gumbo is soup, not pudding. The roux was not dark enough. I travel S. Louisiana frequently, so I know good gumbo.
The shrimp were gray and rubbery, not white like they should be if cooked correctly. They were overbreaded too. The fries were also breaded. Yuk!
Big portions though.

Great down home fried seafood at great prices......
I live over 60 miles away, yet travel there as often as I can. Luckly my G-mom lives in CLS< so I get treated there often. Any of the po-boys are excellent, as is any of the fried seafood. Service is quick, and the food is hot. Prices are even better. Highly recommend for casual dinning any time of day. Be sure to check out the daily specials.

Best catfish on the lake.
Like I said, best catfish on the lake. Always served hot and fresh. This is a sister company to South Shore Beer Garden where the burgers are wonderful.
