Middle of the road. Well I am pretty picky when it comes to "staying away from home". I chose Moody Gardens Hotel for the Spa and my husband and young son for the attractions. I have to say that the service was good and our stay in the Jacuzzi room was awesome. Although, don?t expect to get checked in before 4pm even if they promise to. The spa was a fabulous 4 star experience to me. They were so nice and made me feel very relaxed.

On the down side, the food, I hate to say, was horrible. We ate there twice and were very disappointed. As for the decor, YES, they need a makeover. The bedspreads and wallpaper are sorely outdated. It gave me a feeling of disappointment and frustration when I entered the room. If not for the Jacuzzi, I probably would have given the rating a 2 star. I suggest they spy on the 5 star hotels and get some new ideas and move on it quickly.

Overall, I suggest that for families with young kids, expectable. For couples on a romantic getaway.....get the Jacuzzi Room and go OUT to dinner.

It should be called the Bates Hotel. Moody Gardens Hotel looks spectacular from the outside and the inside looks like you stepped back into the 70s. Peach and sea foam green colors everywhere. YUCK! The restaurant downstairs had the worst food ever. For example, the soup tasted like it came from a can. Oh, and plastic and silk flowers hang from the ceiling to give you that garden feel. Don't eat anywhere in this hotel. Your better off driving to a restaurant. My advice is to make them show you the room before you stay there. Ours was really tacky. The pool was nice, if you like huge crowds. Bring a ton of money if you are going to any of the attractions. The attractions are fun for small kids.

Shearn's Restaurant at moody Gardens Hotel. The restaurant on the ninth floor, Shearn's is absolutley fantastic. The best views, food and service on the island...or just about anywhere.

Popular with groups and conventions, Moody Gardens is the place for a fun and exciting weekend escape.. In Short
Moody Gardens covers more than 240 acres just inland from the Galveston seawall. The 428-room hotel offers upscale rooms and suites, heated outdoor pool, swim-up bar and 100,000 square feet of meeting space. Three glass pyramids house the rainforest, aquarium, Imax, RideFilm theater and science learning center. There's also a white-sand beach, 1800s replica paddlewheel boat and seasonal ice rink. Shearn's Restaurant, on the hotel's top floor, is an island favorite.

A weekend to remember.... My family and I recently had a wonderful weekend getaway at Moody Gardens. The hotel staff went out of their way to ensure that we were all comfortable and enjoyed our stay. They provided smores as well as clowns and balloon animals for the kids out by the pool. Later my husband and I treated ourselves to a couples massage over at the spa and it was definitely worth the splurge! There was so much to do there for a family and for a couple as well. I highly recommend the Moody Gardens Hotel. Smiling faces and great service!

We wont go back. My husband and I went to this hotel, not to visit Moody Gardens, but just to have a weekend away. Moody Gardens Hotel seemed nice on their website and they had a room available last minute.

It was an average room, a bit too bright for a romantic weekend though. The real let down was after a long tiring day at the beach we decided to call it a day and go back to the hotel, curl up and watch a movie. All night and all morning their movie on demand system was "busy". Calling the front desk got us no assistance.

Also they used flat sheets for the bottom sheet, which is hard to sleep on. I didnt get much sleep because the bed caused me to be asthmatic when I was on it.

It really took away from our romance. I dont recommend it.
