Editorial Review for Moody Gardens – by Citysearch Editors

The Appeal
Penguins, seals and other creatures make their home in the impressive Aquarium Pyramid. The aquarium is the third glass pyramid to be built and just one of the recent additions to the tropical grounds. Fish and other inhabitants come from the northern and tropical Pacific Ocean, the edge of the Antarctic and the Caribbean Sea.

The Experience
The original Rainforest Pyramid houses more than 1,000 butterflies, waterfalls, tropical fish and plants, plus a bat cave with more than 60 bats from Africa and Central America. Inside the Discovery Pyramid, the Imax Ridefilm gives you another thrilling movie-watching experience with seats that move with the action. For some relaxation, slip off to Palm Beach, a man-made respite with tons of Florida sand, or check into Moody Gardens' 303-room luxury hotel.

I have to say that we loved Moody Gardens! It was a nice family outing and I'd go again if it weren't so darn expensive! If it were actually available at the price listed above (which is currently showing $14.95-I plan to write in to make sure they correct that), it would be great! I'd say that $15-20 is a fair price for a day out at Moody Gardens. However, the fact that it actually costs twice that is what makes it a poor value. The $4.95-$14.95 listed above is only for separate attractions; that price would not allow you to see the whole park, only 1 part, such as the Aquarium, the Beach or one of the theaters. Entrance to Moody Gardens as a whole costs $40.00! Now when you're getting into the range of Six Flags or Schliterbahn, or a similar attraction, you'd better have as much to offer. Moody Gardens does not. I'd recommend it at a lower price but until they fix their prices, I'd say you'd find a better value elsewhere.

Pros: Impressive, nice facilities.

Cons: Way too expensive!

Enjoyed the 3D Imax, Aquarium, and Rainforest. The Paddleboat, Adventure Ride, and Discovery Zone were a waste of time and money.

Pros: 3D Imax, Aquarium, Rainforest

Cons: Pricing/Value, Paddleboat, Adventure Ride
