The Experience
Families flock here every summer weekend, renting umbrellas, then staking out a spot on the beach. Little ones toddle around the playground while the older kids take a stab at riding the waves on their rented boogie boards. Lifeguards and security let parents relax. Occasionally, you'll spot a big corporation testing out a new soft drink or toy on the crowd. Other weekends, you may catch a band or volleyball tournament.
Features
There's also one of those walking human mazes, a miniature golf course and a small water slide near the entrance.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoWhile you'll only pay a $7 parking fee for the beach, the water slide, human maze and miniature golf are all extra, so bring some cash for the kiddies.
The ExtrasThe pavilion has fast food, refreshments, restrooms and outdoor showers.
ParkingThey pack the cars into the pay parking lot pretty tightly, so it can take a while to sort things out on a crowded day when it's time to leave.

Nice Beach with inside & outside showers, shops, food, volleyball and playground. Great for a family picnic! Beach umbrella & chair rentals available but you can bring your own as well! (We do!) We've vacationed on beaches in Cancun, The Bahamas, Jamaica, South Carolina And Florida and I still favor Galveston Island!!! You won't find an island with a more interesting history! Galveston Island is fun anytime of year!!!
Pros: Beauty, Amenities, Good Parking
