The Scene
Built in 1911, the Galvez had always been known for its Old-World charm, hence its nickname "Queen of the Gulf." But with multimillion-dollar renovations in 1998 and 2001, the old Queen has had a magnificent facelift that preserves its heritage, while adding the best of modern-day amenities. The breathtaking loggia inside the front door is lined with 12-foot-high window arches, carpeting and stenciling that matches the original 1911 style and color scheme.
The Details
The guest rooms combine efficiency with elegance. The seven rebuilt luxury suites are simply the best the island has to offer, each completely different in decor and style. All rooms have data ports, daily complimentary USA Today, irons and ironing boards. Guests in suites have access to a private lounge, pool table and boardroom. There's also an attractive outdoor pool with a swim-up bar and lounge.

I loved this hotel! Galveston is one of my favorite getaway spots, and the Hotel Galvez is one of the nicest hotels in the area. I would definitely come back to this hotel- the spa was incredible! My room was clean, and it was nice to have wireless internet access. The pool area was where I spent most of my time though. The bartender?s were friendly and it was nice to have a swim-up bar. I will be going back to the Hotel Galvez soon!

My boyfriend and I just got back from a weekend at Hotel Galvez, and it is truly the best place to stay in Galveston. It is directly on the beach with the best pool I've ever seen, including a swim up bar!. It is such a romantic & charming hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly, they seemed to really take pride in the hotel, which is hard to find these days. The grounds are beautiful, very tropical. All in all it was a great getaway.

My stay at the Hotel Galvez was great! It?s charming and well kept with a beautiful view of the water from our room. The pool area is probably the best part of the hotel and had a great swim up style bar. I would definitely recommend eating at Bernardo?s while you?re there, the food was great. The staff was extremely accommodating and had that true Southern hospitality feel. I really loved this hotel, and would stay again.
