What Our Expert Scouts Say

Di Bella's Italian Restaurant

Adorable, out of the way, mom and pop Italian restaurant in Galveston. Nothing fancy, but it sure hits the spot. Italian comfort food that reminds you of your grandmother, if she was Italian. The ravioli combo entree with red sauce was so satisfying.

Cute place, but Olive Garden has Better Food!!!. The place is full of charm and extremely friendly, and very cozy, but the food is no better, or not as good as, Olive Garden. The place had good service. The owner stopped by our table and he sat down with us. A really nice guy. It is a shame the food isn't better. A strange group of people next to us kept trying to get us to leave and go to the Elks lodge. They were beyond persistent! Kind of disturbed our experience at Di' Bella's , but we tried to ignore them and just enjoy the meal. We will give this restaurant another try. I am hoping they were just having a bad night!

TRUE Italian dishes..... DiBella’s is absolutely amazing!! I have been dining at DiBella’s for well over 7 years and have never had a bad dish. I have tried several Italian restaurants throughout the years, and no one even comes close to the fantastic flavors within DiBella’s dishes. Definitely stop by DiBella’s for TRUE Italian dishes….

Wonderful local Italian food. I've enjoyed DiBellas on several occasions. The food is most excellent as well is the service. The atmosphere can't be beat! A real, old school Italian restaurant. As my date put it, "I thought Tony Soprano himself would walk in the door any minute!" The food was a tad pricey, but very good. I definitely enjoyed the experience and I will be returning!

Far below average. I'll start off by saying I never write reviews, but after reading everyone else?s reviews and then going to the restaurant I felt I needed to correct an unrealistic expectation these other ratings created.

The atmosphere was great and the service good, but the food was lacking in every aspect and overpriced for what we received.

The salad was a typical salad out of a bag - iceberg lettuce with a few additions thrown in and a choice of ranch or Italian dressing straight from Hidden Valley, and the garlic bread I am guessing had been recently thawed from its Sara Lee packaging.

Our appetizer of crab claws in a creamy wine garlic sauce ? which sounds great right? ? were tough and stringy, not to mention the proportions of ingredients they used to make the sauce were so off they created more of a chemical taste than anything pleasant.

The main courses, fairly basic, pasta with a cream sauce and grilled shrimp, the pasta I?ll admit was ok but the sauce too heavy and the shrimp had more of a tex-mex marinade and a smoky grilled flavor that really just did not go with Italian flavors of the dish.

Overall disappointed. Quite frankly I am tired of paying too much for bad food. This island has some far better choices for dining available, and I suggest you take a chance and find them.

I can't believe Galvestonians like it!!. Relative to the other restaurants in Galveston, DeBella is probably above average, but lets put this on a level playing field with restaurants in the Houston-Galveston area. It's average at best. Salad was limp and lifeless. Red sauce has to be out of can, Prego's is slightly better. Service is terrible when they do finally appear. Eggplant was soggy over cooked and tasteless. Bread was a plus. Tasted other dishes at the table and saw a little improvement.

I don't see the big attraction. I've tried it three different trips and it is consistent....consistently bland and lacking service. Everyone say's "it's were the locals eat," those from Houston know why and pray that Galveston gets better over time.

Great Italian Food. The steak Dibella is a must. Love the angel hair past with the garlic, olive oil and grilled chicken. Never ending baskets of garlic bread are served.

Bar None - One of Our Favorites!. You can't beat one of the best local places in Galveston. Thank you DiBella's for all the love over the years! If you're visiting, reservations are highly suggested for weekend trips... but make sure to go for a local Galveston scene and great food. Our favorites are the ribeye with lumb crab and the Shrimp DiBella.

Friendly neighborhood Italian spot for the BOI crowd.. In Short
Popular with Galveston Island locals, this dimly lit family eatery offers traditional comfort-food fare. With family photos and memorabilia on the walls, red-checkered tablecloths and high-backed wooden booths, the atmosphere is relaxed. The menu includes Italian-American favorites such as eggplant Parmesan, chicken piccata and fettucini Alfredo as well as pork chops, seafood entrees and tasty steaks. Reservations recommended on weekends.
