In Short – While the interior hasn't changed much since 1976, the food keeps people coming back. Order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. Besides one of the tastiest oyster po-boys around, expect a menu heavy on fried items. Succulent shrimp, oysters and catfish get an extra boost from a side of hush puppies and tangy cole slaw. I

Great Fried Seafood

by aeroanthony2002 at Citysearch

Blue-collar seafood at it’s finest. The fried seafood combo platter was out of this world. Four shrimp, four oysters, two crab balls, and a honking filet of fish all faultlessly breaded and fried. Served up with lemons, cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, malt vinegar, ketchup, and/or hot sauce, a man comes away happy from this get-up. Dine inside in the A/C or al fresco on the patio. Great food at a great price, Shrimp N Stuff is on my visit list every time I come to Galveston.

Average seafood

by Carlosbob at Citysearch

I had high expectations, as I'd heard good things. I love seafood and was ready for a great hole-in-the-wall. The location wasn't bad, fairly central for Galveston. The atmosphere was promising, with people lined up at the order window.

Looking at the menu, I decided on a shrimp/crab po-boy and hushpuppies, and my girlfriend had the shrimp w/ french fries. We split the crab stuffed shrimp. The po-boy was very plain. White roll with 3 fried shrimp and 2 crab spheres (Citysearch won't let me use the plural of ball), a spread of tartar sauce and nothing else. Not even lettuce or tomato. The crab was actually very good. The fried shrimp were unimpressive, and tasted like they had been lying around a while or overcooked. My girlfriend's shrimp tasted the same. The hushpuppies were about average, not very good but edible... just like the shrimp. The fries were nothing special either.

The crab stuffed shrimp were pretty tasty, we should have filled up on these. If I went back, I'd get them and some crab. Maybe the gumbo or boiled shrimp... nothing else fried.

  • Pros: Crab was good, fairly quick, decent value, friendly staff
  • Cons: All other fried items

One word...Yum!

by punkprincess_2002 at Citysearch

I went to this restaurant after asking one of the workers at the tourist center to tell me where the locals eat. I wasn't so sure about this place, but I was pleasantly suprised. The atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxed. The famous poboys are really good, but I wish they offered one with crawfish. It was a very affordable and huge meal! My order was wrong, but they were more than willing to fix it and they did it very quickly. My boyfriend ate his first poboy ever and fell in love! We will be going back everytime we go to Galveston.
