Oh, yay, it's Valentine's Day. AKA, Singles Awareness Day, i.e., Corporate Excuse to Sell Candy Day. Romantic dinners are great but no one is going to tell you what to do or when! If you're sick of all the pink hearts and hubbub, single or not, you are not alone. Check out what your ilk are going to be up to this Valentine's Day. (photo: carbonNYC/Flickr)

Malcontents can unite for an anti-Valentine's-Day-themed screening of short films about broken relationships and love lost, brought to Block 7 by the Aurora Picture Show. The movies start at 5pm February 14 and cost $7. After some communal grinching (or maybe just some good laughs), the wine bar will have dinner service and live music by Andrea Chase and her band.
So, you just really don't want to participate in any holiday activities at all? Catch the funky sounds of the seminal '80s ska bands Fishbone and The English Beat. You'll be too busy moonstomping and slam dancing to notice that it just so happens to be Valentine's Day.
You know who probably hates Valentine's Day? Quentin Tarantino. He'd probably take some profuse profanity to it and you can, too, by watching his debut film "Reservoir Dogs," on Friday night at Domy Books. The movie is free and starts at 8:30pm.
When you're feeling down and out, like you don't have anything in common with the rest of the world, or you don't want to, there's only one place to go: a dive. One of our favorites is Kay's Lounge, 'cause it's Texas-style. Order a Lone Star, or a pitcher if you're with friends, and sit at the Texas-shaped table. Willie Nelson will make you feel alright again.
This is really a party for singles who love to hate. At the annual Love Sux party on Saturday, February 13, get rowdy over 86-ounce buckets of hooch or $5 cherry bombs. Bring in a mutilated photo of a scummy ex-lover and get discounted cover, play games to win money and prizes and rage over bugaboos from your past.
So what if that girl you were interested in wasn't down with Bruce Lee? She wasn't that cute anyway. Go to the Alamo Drafthouse's screening of "Enter the Dragon" on Valentine's Day and meet someone who does love kung-fu as much as you do. The movie starts at 7:30pm.
